Makeup industry is ever so evolving and one of the latest buzz in the makeup industry is face contouring. Your makeup is not complete unless you have contoured your face well. Face contouring is a technique to define an area of your face and enhance your facial features by using makeup which is two shades darker than your skin tone. Along with contouring it is also essential to use highlighter to accentuate the areas you contour with light concealer or highlighter. To sculpt your face perfectly with these two techniques here’s a quick guide on how you to use them based on your face shape :

1. Right Highlighters For Your Skin Tone

1 Image: Source Based on your skin tone, choose the right shade of highlighter. Makeup experts suggest using concealer or highlighter that is two shades lighter than your skin tone. This will emphasise you’re the areas of your face that catch light naturally. Highlighting enhances the high points of your face like cheek bones, temples, brow bones, bridge of nose and jaw bones.

2. Diamond Shape Face Contouring

a Image: Source A diamond shape face is defined with a narrow hairline, pointed chin and a face that long and wide. To contour diamond face focus on the area of face that is below your cheekbones starting from your ears and ending at middle of your cheekbones. To highlight your face, form an upside down triangle under your eyes along with your brow line. This will brighten your eyes. You will also need to highlight your forehead and chin to naturally broaden these narrow areas of your face.

3. Heart Shape Face Contouring

b Image: Source A heart shaped face has cheeks that are wider than the hairline, chin is narrow and pointed and your face has a widow’s peak. Contour your temples and forehead. This will create a between the wider upper half and narrower lower half of your face. Counter below your cheeks from your ears to middle of your cheeks. Counter the point below your chin to soften it. Draw out an upside down triangle under your eyes with highlighter to brighten up your eyes. Highlight middle of your forehead and chin to broaden the narrow zones of your face.

4. Oblong Face Contouring

c Image: Source Oblong face is twice as long as it is wide. It has no prime points along with jaw, chin or hairline. Contour your face along with your hairline, this will create an illusion of lower hairline. Contour your cheekbones from your ears to middle of your face and chin to make your face appear rounder. Highlight upside-down under your eyes to illuminate your eyes.

5. Contouring Oval Face

d Image: Source An oval shaped face is like an upside down egg. It has no major points at jaw, chin or hairline and is 1.5 times longer than it is wide. Contour your forehead lightly to make your hairline appear narrower and contour from your ears to middle of your cheeks. Highlight the middle of your forehead and chin. Highlight the eyes and brow bone to brighten up the eyes.

6. Contouring Rectangle Face

e Image: Source In rectangle face, the width of hairline and jawline are even and the face is longer than it is wide. Contour the forehead to make hairline narrow, and create an illusion of lower hairline by contouring along the hairline. Contour jawbone to make jawline narrow. Contour zones below your cheekbones from your ears to middle of cheeks. Highlight middle of your chin and under your eyes along with brow bone to lighten up the eyes.

7. Round Face Contouring

f Image: Source Round face is easy to identify as it is as wide as it is long and there no major points along jaw, chin or hairline. Contour the sides of forehead and temples, this will make the wide appear narrower. Contour cheekbones from your ears to middle of your cheeks and curve down to your jawline. This trick will add length to your face. Highlight middle of your forehead and chin and illuminate your eyes by highlighting under your eyes by drawing an upside down triangle.

8. Square Face Contouring
